Well, I never thought I would be a "blogger". However, I think this could be fun for me and everyone that has supported me during my training for the 2007 NYC Marathon, in honor of my Uncle Tom. In September of 2006, Uncle Tom passed away after a 9 month battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
I am completing my first marathon with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training (TNT). TNT is a program that combines training for endurance events, like the marathon, with raising funds to help fight blood cancers. Estimates suggest that approximately 110,000 people a year, in the US alone, will be diagnosed with a blood cancer, whilst causing an estimated 55,000 deaths-accounting for almost 10% of cancer-related deaths. In addition, there are an estimated 700,000+ Americans currently living with blood cancers, with the likelihood of surviving increases with new research and treatments.
With TNT, I have pledged to raise $3000 for blood cancer research. Please support my efforts in any way you can-EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS! Donations can be placed on my TNT website: http://www.active.com/donate/tntnyc/tntnycPWille
Since it's beginning, TNT has raised over $750 million dollars, and continues to raise more! Please help us fight to cure blood cancer!
